On 4 November the Council’s Executive will receive an update report on the Castle & Eye of York project and the next steps and decisions required to progress to delivery.
Earlier this year amendments to the planning submission were published with ambitious plans for the regeneration of the area. This is now working its way through the planning process and is expected to be considered at a planning committee in the next few months.
Now, Executive Members will discuss a report exploring the benefits and challenges, costs and funding package and how this could be delivered.
At the meeting Executive Members will be asked to approve the funding model, the improvements to the Coppergate Car Park, and agree to closing the Castle Car Park from Spring 2026 at the earliest, so further work on procuring and delivering the scheme can commence.
